In February 2022, the University of Geneva received requests from Ukrainian researchers who wished to work at the University. On September, 11 of them were hired thanks to the “Horizon Academic” program and scholarships financed by private funds and the University’s general fund. Most of them joined the Faculty of Science, where they collaborated with University scientists. In November 2022, Irina Sotnyk, a lecturer from the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration, specializing in energy and environmental issues, joined the “Renewable Energy Systems” group of the Environmental Section. Close cooperation between the Rectorate and various services of the University of Geneva made it possible to facilitate some administrative procedures and demonstrate solidarity within the University community to ensure the receipt of requests from Ukrainian researchers. The Rector of the University of Geneva, Yves Flückiger, expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed.
