Virtual mobility for Management students started this spring, and a new round will open this Thursday, February 4. This project is the result of cooperation between Sumy State University and Washington State University. Sessions are devoted to the development of international relations and how to do business in different countries. The speakers are experts from all over the world, from the USA, China, Turkey, Great Britain, India and, of course, from Ukraine. The initiator and leading teacher of the course is Professor Dipra Jha, Associate Professor of the Carson College of Business and Assistant Director of the School of Tourism Business Management (Washington State University). The following teachers from Sumy State University are participating in the class: Hanna Shvindina, Tetyana Maiboroda and Yulia Opanasyuk.
Sumy State University together with Washington State University offers a free program for graduate students, future PhDs, beginning researchers, teachers and university graduates who are interested in a teaching or research career.
This professional development program will be conducted virtually and aims to share best research practices and teaching strategies among a new generation of graduate students and university faculty to increase academic achievement and open opportunities for collaborative innovation. Technology – Microsoft Teams, language – English.
A certificate of completion will be issued to those participants who attended the sessions and completed the individual task. A digital version of the certificate will be sent to participants by e-mail.
Invited teachers of the program are representatives of TOP universities, such as: Montpellier Business School (France); Washington State University (USA); London School of Economics (Great Britain); Sumy State University (Ukraine); Bahcesehir University (Turkey); University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA); University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USA); Purdue University (USA).
Master and PhD students have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and skills as future financiers in lectures and seminars with Irina Molodikova, a lecturer at the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) within the virtual mobility class. The topic of the virtual class is “Inclusive growth: current trends and risks”, period – from November 13 till December 1, 2020.
The program of virtual class consists of two thematic modules and individual work:
- Module I: “Current tendencies of economic growth in European countries”
- Module II: “Current tendencies of economic growth in the Commonwealth of Independent States”
- Individual work (essay) accompanying the virtual class.
After the course, the students received the certificates considering their achievements on the course.
During 4 weeks from February 13 to March 6, students took online classes of 8 modules, developed by teachers of 3 departments of NNI BiEM: the Department of Economic Cybernetics, the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance, and the Department of Finance and Entrepreneurship. The meeting was attended by:
Tetyana Maiboroda – project coordinator and deputy director of NNI BiEM for coordination of cooperation with foreign institutions and work with foreign students;
Misal Daburi – coordinator of cooperation between Bingham University and Sumy State University, head of the development office of Bingham University;
Olga Kuzmenko – head of the Department of Economic Cybernetics and guarantor of the e-course;
Abayomi Avujola is Dean of Economics at Bingham University;

In total, 35 students of Bingham University successfully completed and graduated from the International Cyber Security Economics e-course. A warm and friendly atmosphere, online applause during the presentation of certificates to each participant, words of gratitude from students and lecturers of the course, as well as words of hope for continued cooperation and expansion of projects between the two universities from the project coordinators.

Sumy State University (Ukraine) together with Riga Technical University (Latvia) offers a free international virtual mobility program “Sustainable development and economic security” for students (bachelor’s, master’s), graduate students in the period from 10.09.2022 to 10.12.2022 , budding researchers, teachers, and university graduates who are interested in issues related to the program’s topics.
The purpose of this course is to develop a project concept that is necessary for sustainable development and economic security. The program will be conducted virtually and is aimed at sharing best practices in scientific research and teaching strategies among teachers, graduate students, and students.
The language of instruction is English.
The target audience is bachelor’s, master’s, doctor of philosophy and teachers of participating universities. International and Erasmus students are also welcome to participate.
Speakers of the program use innovative training formats according to the criteria of education for sustainable development (ESD). Along with online lectures and educational videos, flipped classrooms will also be used. Courses are either credited to the current study program as a module equivalent, with confirmation of participation, or awarded with a course completion certificate. A certificate of completion will be issued to those participants who attended the sessions and completed the individual task. A digital version of the certificate will be sent to participants by e-mail.
Lectures are held on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. (Kyiv/Riga time, UTC + 2). The class schedule will be sent to the participants by e-mail. Each session will last 2-3 academic hours, additional time is provided for the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers.

In the period from 31.10.2022 to 13.12.2022, the Department of Financial Technologies and Entrepreneurship together with the University of Latvia (Latvia), Vilnius University (Lithuania) and the Lebanese International University (Lebanon) implemented programs for students and postgraduates of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Business, Economics and management, as well as representatives of partner universities.
128 students of higher education participated in the program “Challenges and Opportunities of Economic Development in the Digital Era” (68 majors 072 “Finance, banking and insurance”, 6 majors “Entrepreneurship, trade and stock market activity”, 21 majors 073 “Management” , 1 specialty 292 “International Economic Relations”, 21 foreign students from Vilnius University and the Lebanese International University, as well as Foggia University, 3 students from other Ukrainian higher education institutions). The program “Scientific Research Methods on the Transformation of the Financial System in the Conditions of Digitalization” was attended by 41 students of higher education (12 majors 072 “Finance, banking and insurance”, 11 majors 076 “Entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activity”, 16 “Economics” majors, 2 foreign applicants).

For three weeks, the winners worked in the following thematic areas:
- European banking union: structure and foundations
- Digital economy and modern digital trends
- Fintech: definition, classification and evaluation
- Scientific studies of the digital economy: empirical data and dominant trends
- Basics of game theory: economic and mathematical modeling, strategies and decision-making
- Trend analysis of the development of the digital economy and forecasting indicators in scientific research
- Functional and stochastic dependencies between separate phenomena of the development of the digital economy, taking into account the principles of Islamic finance.
The international virtual mobility program implemented for students of higher education of Sumy State University majors 073 “Management”, 281 “Public management and administration”, 051 “Economics”, 076 “Entrepreneurship, trade and stock exchange activities”, 071 “Accounting and taxation”, “Finance, banking business and insurance” jointly with Washington State University, Pullman, USA within the framework of disciplines at Sumy State University “Management of conflicts and changes in the organization” and “Development of intercultural competences and intercultural communications” in the period from February to May 2023. Balatskyi, coordinator from the partner institution – Dipra Dzhha, professor at the Karson College of Business of Washington State University.
A virtual class “Numerical optimization methods” was held from March to June 2023 on the basis of the Department of Economic Cybernetics as part of the collaboration between Sumy State University, Ukraine, Yobe State University, Damaturu, Nigeria, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkiye, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Pakistan, and Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), India, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Pakistan. This program was carried out virtually and was aimed at expanding and deepening knowledge, abilities and skills regarding the use of optimization economic and mathematical models in the activities of modern socio-economic objects using numerical methods.
In the spring semester of 2023, online lectures on the economics of climate change were held for students of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration as part of the agreements implemented between Sumy State University (Sumy, Ukraine) and the University of Maryland (Maryland, United States). The online course “The Economics Of Climate Change” was conducted by Anna Alberini, an American professor at the University of Maryland.
The virtual mobility program “Modern trends of scientific research in the field of accounting, auditing and taxation” is implemented by the Department of Accounting and Taxation of Sumy State University together with the teachers of the University of Economics in Bratislava (Slovakia). November – December 2021. Duration – 30 academic hours.
