International achievements

Every year, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Business, Economics and Management expands international cooperation with foreign universities and institutions.

Currently, NNI BiEM has more than 300 active international partnerships with scientists from Great Britain, USA, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Australia, Ghana, Mauritius, India, etc. Scientists of the department are members of international associations and academies: European Association of Marketing and Management, Goethe Institute and others.

NNI BiEM is actively developing international mobility programs for both students and teachers. Every year, more than 20% of students participate in academic mobility programs. Our students are scholarship recipients of the Erasmus+, Latvian Government Scholarship, DAAD, UGRAD, Kirkland, etc. programs and simultaneously study at universities in Poland, Germany, Holland, China, Latvia, etc.

The Institute is an innovator in the organization of international online mobility. In 2020, the Department of Management named after O. Balatsky, International Virtual Classes from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA) were launched. Currently, more than 10 International Virtual Classes have been implemented with universities in the USA, Poland, Mauritius, Ghana, Latvia for students, postgraduates and teachers.

Scientists of NNI BiEM annually receive scholarships for scientific research and teaching in foreign universities and scientific institutions within the framework of international programs Fulbright, Latvian Government Scholarship, Technical and Economic Cooperation of the Republic of India (ITEC), Erasmus+, National Scholarship Program, Ernst Mach, etc.

Graduates of the institute work as university professors and hold management positions in the USA, the Netherlands, Canada and other countries. On an ongoing basis, professors from partner universities are involved in the educational process. Over the past three years, more than 50 foreign lecturers have been involved in teaching and joint research.

The Institute actively participates in international educational and scientific grant programs. Scientists have experience in coordinating international scientific projects, including intergovernmental ones:

  • Visegrad Fund project “Carbon free-economy: the best practices between the V4 and Ukraine”, 2021
  • Project of the Czech Fund of the Academia Aurea Grant Agency “Health economics and COVID-19: consequences for inclusive and sustainable development” 2021
  • Ukrainian-Austrian project with the University of Kufstein (Austria) “Transformation of financial markets: responsible investment and Sustainable Development Goals as an element of improving the health care system”, 2021-2022.
  • Project of the Czech Fund of the Academia Aurea Grant Agency “Business risk of SMEs in Ukraine” 2020.
  • International project with the Czech University of Natural Sciences “Interuniversity cooperation as a tool for improving the quality of selected universities of Ukraine” (Czech Republic, 2019-2021)
  • Two-year grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) within the cooperation program between Switzerland and the countries of Eastern Europe SCOPES IZ74Z0_160564 “Improving energy security through Swiss-Ukrainian-Estonian institutional partnership”
  • The Ukrainian-Lithuanian project “Development of institutional and economic foundations for ensuring sustainable development and “green” economy at the regional level” (2016-2017)
  • The Ukrainian-Belarusian project related to the development of methodological foundations for the transformation of education to ensure sustainable development.
  • The Ukrainian-Belgian project related to the development of a conceptual basis for the creation of ECOPOLIS as a component of the sustainable development of the territory.
  • The Ukrainian-Belgian project related to the development and introduction of the textbook and workshop “Socio-economic potential of sustainable development” into university educational processes, etc.

The institute implement the following virtual mobility programs. The international virtual mobility program is implemented for students of higher education of Sumy State University majors 073 “Management”, 281 “Public management and administration”, 051 “Economics”, 076 “Entrepreneurship, trade and stock exchange activities”, 071 “Accounting and taxation”, “Finance, banking business and insurance” jointly with Washington State University, Pullman, USA within the framework of disciplines at Sumy State University “Management of conflicts and changes in the organization” and “Development of intercultural competences and intercultural communications” in the period from February to May 2023. Coordinator of the program at Sumy State University – Tetyana Maiboroda, senior lecturer at the Department of Management named after O. Balatskyi, coordinator from the partner institution – Dipra Dzhha, professor at the Karson College of Business of Washington State University.

A virtual class “Numerical optimization methods” was held from March to June 2023 on the basis of the Department of Economic Cybernetics as part of the collaboration between Sumy State University, Ukraine, Yobe State University, Damaturu, Nigeria, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkiye, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Pakistan, and Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), India, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Pakistan. This program was carried out virtually and was aimed at expanding and deepening knowledge, abilities and skills regarding the use of optimization economic and mathematical models in the activities of modern socio-economic objects using numerical methods.

In the spring semester of 2023, online lectures on the economics of climate change were held for students of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration as part of the agreements implemented between Sumy State University (Sumy, Ukraine) and the University of Maryland (Maryland, United States). The online course “The Economics Of Climate Change” was conducted by Anna Alberini, an American professor at the University of Maryland.

Representatives of NNI BiEM are managers and participants of more than 50 international grant projects within the framework of the Erasmus+ program
