Over the past 5 years, scientists of the Institute of BiEM have obtained unique scientific results, the distinguishing feature of which is their practical value, bringing the methodology of scientific ideas to significant practice-oriented developments with their further commercialization and implementation at the enterprise, regions and national economy. The main results of scientific research were aimed at solving the following problems:

Investments and innovations. In this area, the main attention was paid to the development of the system of state incentives for innovation; implementation of the strategy of advanced innovative development; knowledge management mechanism in the system of innovative development; modeling the optimal level of innovation culture of industrial enterprises; foresight-forecasting of stability and modeling of innovative drivers of development of national economy; development of innovative mechanisms for managing internal communications and product sales; promotion of innovative products, its commercialization; formation of long-term strategies for the development of industrial enterprises, etc. The practical value of scientific results obtained in this area is confirmed by agreements with enterprises, institutions and organizations, the establishment of an adult education center, the establishment of a business hub, forums and trainings for small and medium businesses within the Center for Business Support, implementation of business agreements. at the request of the Department of Education and Science of Sumy Regional State Administration and in developing the Strategy of regional development of Sumy region for the period up to 2020, in forecasting economic and social development of territories for the medium term, in forecasting by local governments the volume of regional orders for training area.

Economics of nature management and energy saving. In this area, the main attention was paid to the implementation of the concept of “green” economy; problems of transition to the innovation-oriented mechanism of its reproduction; adaptation of economic systems to climate and resource fluctuations; redistribution of natural rent in the system “state – region – business entity”; efficiency management and forecasting of electricity use; modeling of stakeholder collaboration in pure production; development of the national economy on the basis of alternative energy; corporate social and environmental responsibility; assessment of danger, risks, expediency and economic effect from the introduction of energy efficient and resource-saving technologies in Ukraine; modeling the transfer of eco-innovation, etc. The practical value of scientific results obtained in this area is confirmed by agreements with enterprises, institutions and organizations, the use of the results in substantiating the Sustainable Development Strategy of Ukraine until 2030 (UNDP in Ukraine), in the implementation of international research grants (Swiss-Ukrainian). Legal, economic, financial, institutional security of the state. A number of results are of practical value for Ukraine’s national security and are aimed at neutralizing real and potential threats to national interests in the areas of law enforcement, combating corruption and money laundering, financial services, fiscal and monetary policy, de-shadowing the economy; as well as the protection of economic information. In particular, the results of the creation of a single law enforcement body of Ukraine, which will ensure the economic security of the state, were reflected in the development of bills “On the National Bureau of Financial Security”, “On Financial Police”, where SSU scientists are co-authors. Economic and mathematical models for determining the losses from money laundering by financial institutions have been developed, as well as a conceptual model based on the main hypotheses of cyber fraud and information models for detecting signs of economic fraud based on BPMN 2.0 and Data-mining, tested in activities of a number of banks of Ukraine, the Office of Large Taxpayers of the State Fiscal Service, the Department of Economic Development and Trade of the Sumy Regional State Administration, as well as in the implementation of economic agreements.

Financial systems and markets. The results include the formation of new approaches and directions of reforming the financial system in terms of increasing the transparency of public finances; modeling and forecasting the behavior of financial markets; reforming the system of financial supervision; prudential supervision and regulation of systemic banks; early diagnosis of financial crises; mechanisms to restore confidence in the financial sector; development of financial policy for sustainable development of united territorial communities, etc. The results were used in the work of the UNDP Office
