International Forum “Modern Challenges for Sustainable Development: Dialogue of People and Countries”

On April 28-30, 2020, the department staff successfully held an international forum “Modern Challenges for Sustainable Development: Dialogue of Peoples and Countries”, which brought together more than 90 participants in open discussions with representatives of scientific schools and institutions from different countries.

The holding of this scientific event at the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration is of symbolic and historical value for the whole ARI FEM named after Oleg Balatsky. From the beginning, Professor O.F. Balatsky in 1969, the scientific direction in the economics of environmental management, it received her own image and authority in the educational and scientific space and is now developing as a scientific school of sustainable development.

One of the main prerequisites for holding this event and bright pages of the scientific activity of the department is the long-term holding of the conference “Economics for Ecology” , which was founded in 1992 by active students of the faculty led by prof. Melnyk L.G. This year it was held for the 25th time.

The current forum, which is also a continuation of the initiative of students and young scientists, was aimed at realizing their desires to participate in discussing urgent problems with scientists and practitioners from different countries, as well as the opportunity to present the results of their own research.

For the first time in the history of scientific events of this format, the forum was made by a real British Lord – Richard Balfe, a former deputy of the European Parliament supported by the European Parliament Former Members Association. He focused on international issues of sustainable development of European countries, as well as shared his experience in resolving international conflicts in conditions of transformation of public relations. From a scientific point of view, the reports of other guests and scientists, in particular prof. Luc Hens (Belgium), PhD Abayomi Avujola (Nigeria), which caused lively discussions and questions of students. From ARI FEM at the plenary session were prof. L. Melnyk and 1st year student Vladislav Piven, who is the co-chair of the student conference.
