One of the cultural centers of the SSU is the Art Gallery “Academic”, which started its activity in 1998 at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking. During this time, “Academic” became a cultural center not only in higher educational establishments, but also in the city. 125 exhibitions were held in its walls, in which almost 2500 works of fine, decorative art and photography were exhibited. All this time the gallery is headed by Ph.D. in Art Studies, associate professor of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-cultural Technologies Sergey Pobozhii.
The jubilee date gallery marks a new creative achievement – an exhibition of graphic works by artists from Ukraine, Poland, France and Croatia. The exposition includes 30 works executed in various graphic techniques: etching, drawing with graphite and colored pencils, watercolor, pastels. A few works are unique through the author’s technique. A separate group will present works from the SSU artistic collection: Ivan Lackovich (Croatia) “Music”, Igor Vasilevsky “Gliwice”. Drawings by Alexander Lysenko felt-marker “The Savior Transfiguration Cathedral in Sumy” were performed during the 1st International Art Plenary “Art Card of Ukraine”. Watercolors of the doctor of art Alexandra Shila from Kharkov are presented to the art collection after a personal exhibition in the gallery. The appearance in the collection of graphic and picturesque works of Polish artists became possible as a result of fruitful cooperation between the gallery and the Polish Artists’ Union of Gliwice-Zabzhansky District. At the exhibition there is a colorful etching of the artist from the city of Zabrze Kazimierz Sholtisek “Panorama Gliwice”. The watercolor “Wailing” by the Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleg Prokopchuk was first exhibited at his personal exhibition in the Academic, as well as “Necessana Barynya” by Alexandra Tregubova.
Welcoming speeches were made by the director of the NNIBT “UABS” professor, doctor of economic sciences І.І. Dyakonov, Honorary Professor of the Sumy State University Yusef Haber (Poland), Director of the Sumy Regional Art Museum Nadiya Yurchenko, representatives of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. All the speakers noted the great contribution of “Academic” to the development of culture and art, and also highlighted the high level of creative projects embodied in the gallery for twenty years.
