Description

The course combines the basics of the project design and management, including a strong theoretical background of the topic, and the peculiarities of the research projects design and management practice.

The course is a result of the cooperation of the lecturer with a number of experts and practitioners in the field (R.Trulaske College of the Missouri University, the USA; CEASC Foundation, Poland), that is how it is a compilation of the theory and cases/experiences/success stories derived from the practice as well as the open access resources of the world’s best universities, research funding institutions and private archives.

Learning Outcomes

  • A developed ability to design a project proposal fully focused on research or with a research component, eligible for grant funding.
  • A developed ability to design a legitimate and effective research project budget, including the ability to relate cost estimates to project objectives and the real environment.
  • Skills to apply research project management methods and tools to plan, manage and evaluate a research project, including managing its team, resources and risks on time.
  • A competence to use the acquired knowledge for real-world situations by assessing the needs of the target group, analyzing the priorities of donors and competition in the selected field and, based on this, develop a research project to solve the selected problem through grant funds.
  • A developed ability to use the essence of the project approach for other subject areas with the help of improved communication and teamwork skills.

Content

The aim of the course: to equip the students with relevant skills and knowledge to be able to design an eligible research proposal for the grant funding. 

Tasks of the course: understanding the essence of the system approach to the research projects management and acquisition of project management skills in initiation, development and implementation of research projects or projects with the scientific component; acquaintance with the variety of international donors and their requirements to the projects.

The result of the discipline study for the future professionals is: possessing appropriate competence for effective design and management of projects with a strong focus on the research projects specifics.
