Kick-off Online Conference took place within Jean Monnet Project «Educational Agenda for Intercultural City Development»

The 2-day Conference took place online on the 28th and 29th of October. This Conference is part of activities within Jean Monnet Project «Educational Agenda for Intercultural City Development» (ID No 101047729 ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH). This event is organized jointly by the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine, Sumy State University, Sumy Oblast War Administration, Sumy City Council and NGO “Lifelong Learning Centre”.

On the 28th of October, more than 70 participants joined the panel discussion “Intercultural Development of the City in the Context of the War and Integration with EU,” which took place online on YouTube Live. The moderator of the event was Petrushenko Yuriy, Dr. Hab., the head of the Chair of International Relations at Sumy State University. The speakers were Denis Chernikov, the project manager of “Informational Support of EU Network in Ukraine”; Hanna Shvindina, Dr. Hab., the professor of Oleg Balatskyi Chair of Management; Tetyana Mayboroda, Ph.D., associate professor and deputy head of International Cooperation Department of Sumy State University; as well as Nataliya Troyanovska, the chief specialist of the department of communications with the public and information support of the Department of Communications and Information Policy of the Sumy City Council.

During the panel discussion, the panelists and the public discussed the new challenges for Ukrainians, as well as new challenges in interculturality, intercultural competences development and the foundations of mutual understanding, the redesigning of relations with international students and partners under new conditions of the war.

On the same day, the speakers in the Conference session “Intercultural development of the city in the context of the challenges of the war and the possibilities of European integration” provided the results of their research. On the 29th of October, pieces of training for soft skills development in the sphere of interculturality were provided by trainers for faculties, students, and Ph.D. students of Sumy State University and other Universities. The trainers were faculty members of Oleg Balatskyi Chair of Management, Hanna Shvindina, Dr. Hab., professor, and Anastasia Nesheva, assistant.
