Ukraine and the EU: socio-economic security in conditions of war

In December 2022, Oleksandr Kubatko, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Department of Entrepreneurship Economics and Business Administration of Sumy State University gave a lecture for students and teachers of University of Wolverhampton (Great Britain) at the invitation of Professor Martin Dangerfield. The topic of the lecture was devoted to “Ukraine and the EU: socio-economic security in the conditions of war”.

Oleksandr talked about the conditions under which universities work, how businesses work in the conditions of widespread power outages caused by the destruction of the energy infrastructure during the war. He shared the reasons for how to improve the social, cyber and energy security of the country. Trade issues between Ukraine and the EU were also discussed. Oleksandr stated that the EU is Ukraine’s largest trading partner, accounting for almost 40% of trade turnover in 2021, while Ukraine is the EU’s 15th largest trading partner.

After the lecture, a discussion and question session was organized regarding the prospects of Ukraine’s development in the post-war period.
